This tour offers an interesting view of life outside the city, and starts with a visit to the Tiong Bahru Wet Market to see the locals buy their daily groceries and vegetables. Next, pass by the Kranji Dam area—once a swamp used as the first landing spot for Japanese Advance Boats during World War II. The Kranji War Memorial, unveiled in 1957, overlooks the Straits of Johore and is the final resting place for many of the Allied soldiers who lost their lives in World War II. It commemorates by name more than 20,000 men and women. After lunch, you’ll visit the Bright Hill Temple, a famous place of Chinese ancestral worship. The final loop of the tour will pass the Johore Battery, built by the British in 1939, en route to Changi Prisoner of War camp. You’ll stop at the Changi Chapel & Museum, where you will visit the museum and a replica of the chapel used by POWs during World War II. Drive through Changi Village on the way back to the pier.
