We had been on the tour to the beautiful west side of Madeira and wanted to see some more of this beautiful island, so we took this one to the top of the NE side. Unfortunately it misted in at the top so there was no view there but the ride up was clear and very impressive. We stopped for coffee and cake and when we got back had a tour of Funchal with a stop at the Madeira wine cellars. After some tasting we were we asked to be dropped in town. Our tour tag was good for a free shuttle back to the ship, so we had time to wander around Funchal. Not as nice as the last tour we took to the top of the west side of the island but it was much shorter and would have been perfect if we could have had the view at the top. Madeira is so mountainous that you really need to get up to the top to see the full beauty and understand the people living out of the seaside towns. We would always take a tour here for that reason.
