I have been to Tahiti quite a few times, but had not yet seen the interior of the island. The relatively open 4-by-4 tours get you outside while a local guide show you what is beautiful up close. I loved the stop at the coast for photos and to to watch local surfers, and other stops at waterfalls. My wife liked the chance to try to blow a conch shell! This was a very relaxing way to look around: warm, no rain!

We have been to Papeete many times, and this time we decided to take an excursion into the interior on a side of the island we hadn't explored before. It headed to the to the volcanoe cauldron. It was a wonderful excursion - with a top notch guide who was full of knowledge of the flora and fauna. There were so many wonderful flowers in bloom! Waterfalls were abundant - and the "swimming hole" was enjoyed by a number of people on our trip - not me though. Once you're back in town go to Lou Pescado for great pizza or L o'a la Bouche for lunch (or dinner). You won't be disappointed. Don't forget the main market also - NOT to be missed and explored.
