This tour was a excellent overview of the Melbourne area. The tower experience was outstanding and fortunately the clouds parted and we were blessed with gorgeous views of Melbourne and beyond. We also enjoyed the botanical gradens and a short walk in the park. The guide was very well versed in the history of the area and gave insights not normally available such as showing us the remanents of a biscuit factory that was replaced by a housing development. He was very knowledgeable about the architecture of the area as well. Great trip.
I liked this tour better than the Sydney overview tour. I always love going up in the highest building around and the Eureka Skydeck provided me with that opportunity. I enjoyed seeing the Shrine of Remembrance and the Royal Botanical Gardens. I would liked to have had more time in the gardens. The drive through streets of Victorian houses with their beautiful iron grillwork and the contrast between those and the tall new skyscrapers was great. Our guide was excellent and gave us a good overview of the city. It looked like it was easy to get around in, though, with public transportation, if one knows where and how to go.
We thought this would be a nice overview of Melborne for the limited amount of time we had there but not so. The Eureka Skydeck was Ok but the short amount of time given at the Shrine/Gardens was not adquate to really see much. You were told you had to pick one or the other-not enough time to see both. We felt like our tour guide was rushed to get back to ship and we left 20 min late to start with and got back 20 min early. Other passengers we talked to afterward had taken the train offered from the dock for 14 dollars and were able to see more walking around than we did.
