Customer Reviews for Deep-Sea Fishing Expedition

Deep-Sea Fishing Expedition

If you are a sportfishing enthusiast, you’ll definitely want to try your hand in the rich waters surrounding Grand Turk. You’ll meet your experienced captain at the pier and board a fully equipped, 36-foot fishing boat that carries up to 10 anglers. From here, you set off to experience the excitement of deep-sea fishing at its best. Some of the common catches include wahoo, tuna, barracuda and dorado. Your captain will always be on the lookout for the elusive blue marlin. In addition to fishing, you’ll enjoy the scenic cruise along the Grand Turk coast and the entertainment of your crew during your expedition. Lines will be rotated throughout the tour. Your trip includes beverages, rods and reel, bait tackle, license and ice. After an amazing time spent on the water, you’ll return to the cruise center, hopefully with some great fishing tales to tell.Notes:Minimum age is 12 years. A catch is likely but is not guaranteed.

Coming from the Great Lakes region, we really wanted to do some salt water fishing, but on our way out noticed no one else was fishing.. yes the boat did catch 2 baracuda, but you barely have time for a pic, the (crew) never said a word the entire time, although they were safe in some really heavy seas. We just expected more than a nice boat ride.

Our excursion was well-organized and the boat skipper and crew were efficient, polite, and enthusiastic. The boat was very clean, and 3 of the 4 of us reeled in fish, good considering the season and the presence of dolphins in the area. I caught and released a 25lb barracuda. The crew maximized the use of our time yet got us back to the dock right on time. Highly recommended.

Just went fishing on 02/21/12 and our expectations were blown away. It was depressing we had to wait about 60 seconds to get our first hit. After that, everything got crazy. Our guide told us it was whale season as well, so we unfortunately got stuck catching tons of barracuda, seeing whales as close as 70 yards (one nearly clearing the water), and dolphins at 5 feet. After everyone caught two barracudas, we finished the day with a beautiful wahoo. The excursion was excellent and blew my expectations away.

I am normally not a person to write a review, but based on this excursion, I want to express my poor experience . The weather was overcast and it began raining as we arrived in Grand Turk - the majority of all sea excursion were being canceled, but the deep sea fishiing was moving ahead as scheduled. From the initial departure the seas were rough, we were getting rained on and there was no cover to keep us out of the rain. I knew it was going to be a rough ride from the first 30 minutes into the trip, thinking " there are still 2 1/2 hours remaining". It is also telling when there is free beer and alcohol on the boat and nobody is drinking. There was no interaction with the crew - they introduced themselves and that was about the extent of the entertainment for the entire 3 hours. We felt more like a cork bobbing in the water, than a fishing expedition. The lines were cast by the crew and when there was a bite, they allowed someone to reel in the catch. The excursion was a full 3 hours of misserable conditions, cold wet and being beaten by the waves. The person driving the boat was chattering his teeth and didn't ease the feeling of were we going to make it back to the ship. My recommendation would be, if there is not a 100% chance of sun and no rain in the forecast, do not book this excursion.
