Arctic Circle Air Adventure

Cross the Arctic Circle! A circular land mass encompassing the earth’s farthest north polar regions, the Arctic Circle formally marks the "Land of the Midnight Sun." Fairbanks lies just 125 air miles south of the Arctic Circle so don’t miss this opportunity to cross the Arctic Circle and receive an official Arctic Circle Adventure Certificate! The Arctic Circle Air Adventure takes you north from Fairbanks across the expansive Yukon River Valley and into the Brooks Mountain Range (the Alaskan Rockies) before landing just east of the gates of the Arctic National Park at Coldfoot, Alaska. The 2½ hours spent on the ground north of the Arctic Circle focus on visits to two very different wilderness communities, Wiseman and Coldfoot, both offering the unique opportunity to learn firsthand how the very few residents living in this remote arctic region have adopted creative strategies for surviving extreme winter temperatures that can drop to -80 F. Earn an Arctic Circle Certificate upon return.

This was one of my favorite tours. The flight to Coldfoot was very scenic and I took many good pictures for the plane. The pilot narrated during the trip and no afraid to answer questions from the passengers during the flight. The trip to Wiseman was very interesting and informative. I would really like to go back during the winter for the Northern Lights Tour.
The tour of Coldfoot was just like you see it on Ice Road Truckers. The only downside was my wife was on the waitlist for the tour. When I got on the plane, there were three empty seats on my plane and am not sure about the other aircraft. We should have checked at the tour desk at the lodge to see if there were any open seats so my wife would have not missed this tour.

Description makes it appear you will be at Arctic Circle however you fly over and look at a readout display on the plane dash to show when you fly over the imaginary line. Wilderness community is Cold Foot and there was no ceremonious Arctic Circle landing. The certificate is handed out at the tour office when you return. Nothing spectacular about Arctic Circle. The view from plane was good. Other than that - so not worth it!

I've always wanted to go across the artic circle, which attracted me to this tour. We enjoyed the flight up and our visit with the person who lives in the area was quite interesting. The number of mosquitos was amazing -- didn't enjoy that part -- but everyone says the mosquito is a state bird! We had a good clear day -- wouldn't have enjoyed if the weather was bad! Our pilot provided good narration.

This was a highlight of our trip. Jack is a knowledgeable pilot who made sure we saw many wonderful sights. Driving to Wiseman and Coldfoot gives a true idea about life above the Arctic Circle.

Loved it.
Our pilot was Jack. He provided a great flight. Flew between mountains below their peaks. Landed in Coldfoot AK. Then drove the Dalton Highway along the Alaskan pipeline.
Met another Jack in Weisman. He was terrifiic. He explained subsistence living in a village of 13 people.
This was The only tour where they didn't try to sell you stuff.

Transportation to shore excursion was good. Shore excursion was not worth the time or money spent.
