Panoramic Acapulco & Baby Turtle Release

Board your motor coach and travel along Avenue Costera Miguel Aleman, passing by hotels, restaurants, banks, bars and shopping districts en route to the Scenic Highway. After a short stop for panoramic views, continue through the Las Brisas residential area to the Diamond Zone, passing by Puerto Marques Bay and the Black Lagoon where the first Tarzan movie was filmed. Next, you will head along the Costera Palmas and past the Acapulco Princess Hotel, which resembles an Aztec pyramid, and the Mayan Palace hotel. These are arguably the most beautiful properties in Acapulco. At the peaceful Elcano Diamante, baby turtles are waiting for you to release them into the ocean. Marine turtles are an endangered species, and scientists estimate that for every 1,000 born, only one will reach the adult stage. Get ready to release your turtle into the sea; liberate the rest of the nest and watch as they start their new life in the wild. You will be helping the conservation of the sea turtles—a truly unique experience. Take time to appreciate their subtle natural behaviors and the beauty and grace of the magnificent sea turtle. Mexican snacks and one beer per person are included.

This was a wonderful experience for the most part. I went with my three kids as part of a Panama Canal Cruise. The woman who was the speaker is amazing: brave, smart, interesting. Holding those baby turtles, new and vulnerable was amazing, and watching them go out to see, and rooting for them was - well, amazing. My fondest wish is that Acapulco, which really is not a destination at this point, will find itself, and that the baby turtles, when they return to Acapulco, return to a beautiful, healthy environment.

This is my wife's favorite tour. We did it in 2008, 2009 and 2010. The turtle release locations were different each time. It's so emotional releasing the little things. If you are not an animal lover, it may not be worth the money. But for us, it was GREAT! You can take a taxi and save some money, but the security of a tour bus was worth the extra expense. GO TURTLES!

Get ready to release your turtle into the sea, this was awsome! This excursions shows the care that is going into helping out nature at it's best, even though you are told that nature takes care of it's self. This excursion should last longer when with the turtles' release.

When our original excursion was canceled due to security reasons, we booked this one, and in hind sight are very glad it happened that way.
This was our first trip to Mexico and so had nothing to compare the state of Acapulco with. Enroute to the Turtle beach we passed by many phases of the city, and came away with the picture of a place that is still growing and trying to do its best for its people considering all the problems the country is having. Our guide for the day, Juan, was an enthusiastic educator and promoter for his city and for the turtle release.
The Turtle release was wonderful! To hold those little guys, barely 5 hours old, and knowing that they had one thing on their minds - to get to the ocean. Knowing that we were helping them avoid being eaten by various predators, and watching them (mostly) unerringly head to the surf, was a fantastic feeling. (as was the feeling of the sand and waves on our feet)
Afterwards we went through a nice buffet line with various beverage options. We are looking forward to hearing from the biologists as to how our turtles fare in the coming years.
Two flippers up!!

Acapulco is not a desirable destination - it may have been 50 years ago but it is now a town in serious decline. The excursion itself was overpriced and while the baby turtles and the lunch provided were adequate, we would have been better off staying on the ship. HAL should find an alternative port to Acapulco.
